Lean, delivered by the people who learned it at the source

Lean is not a training course or a set of posters. It is a way of seeing how work actually flows through a business, and removing what gets in the way. We are hands-on improvement experts who work with you, on the floor, alongside your team. And we learned the method where it was invented: Toyota.

What Lean Is

The method behind every improvement we make

Lean began as the Toyota Production System, the approach that made Toyota the most consistently productive manufacturer in the world. Its premise is simple: go to where the work happens, map how it really runs rather than how the org chart says it runs, and remove the waste hiding in between, the waiting, the rework, the double-handling, the chasing.

That is the discipline we bring to every engagement, and it is why our AI work pays back: problem first, technology second.

The lesson of the last 25 years

Twenty-five years ago Lean transformed Britain’s factory floors. The businesses that won didn’t do it by sending people on courses. They won when specialist practitioners worked inside the business and redesigned the process itself.

The Founder

Fifteen years of finding the time hiding in processes

Boxtree is led hands-on by Max Pardo‑Roques, who has spent 15+ years applying Lean across manufacturing, FMCG, aviation and service industries, most recently as Commercial Director at a specialist Lean consultancy. Every engagement is personally led by Max, in your business, not handed to an account team.

The Delivery Team

Senior practitioners. No juniors. Ever.

The consultants who deliver our Lean work are senior specialists, and the team is largely made up of ex‑Toyota engineers, people who spent years inside the Toyota Production System before applying it to other industries.

That breadth is the point. Lean is a methodology, not an industry. The same discipline that balances a production line will shorten a quote‑to‑order cycle or clear an admin backlog. When someone from our team walks your operation, they have seen the problem before, usually many times.

We are hands‑on. You will find us where the work happens, working with your people rather than presenting to them, because improvement that is built with your team is improvement that lasts. And you will never find a junior consultant learning their trade on your site. We don’t employ any.

How It Works

On the shop floor, or wherever the work happens

01

Map

We spend time where the work is done, with the people who do it, and map how the operation actually runs.

02

Find

We identify where time and money are being lost, and rank the opportunities by the value they would release.

03

Fix

We implement the changes with your team, so the improvement holds after we leave. Where work is repetitive or data‑heavy, AI takes it on.

Lean + AI

Why Lean makes our AI work pay

AI fails when it’s bolted onto a broken process. Lean is how we make sure that never happens: map the process first, fix what should be fixed, then automate only what has earned its place. Lean finds the improvement. AI delivers it.
